Geert Wilder speaks on “Fitna” his movie.

Now that youtube has been unbanned, although the reason for it has been removed, which was Mr Geert Wilders video against Islam called “Fitna”. We here in Pakistan can get a look at what this idiot is preaching.

I do not call him an idiot because he is voicing his opinion or engaging in his right of Free speech. However to call the faith of 1.5 Billion people of this world retarded and to claim that Muslims are just about killing everyone else is idiotic and ignorant at least, fascist and racist at worst. How is this different from fanatic Mullahs pooh poohed by all of us for giving death fatwas against leaders of the western world?

He also claims that it is time that the western world show Muslims how intolerant they are instead of all this political correctness and tolerance. Ah so this is how he wants to solve problems in his country and around the world. Makes perfect sense, just not to me.

The whole argument he makes is established on the fact that the influx of Muslims in Europe is leading to crimes, joblessness and everything bad. For instance if your cat dies it is because a mullah looked at it funny and so on, pretty logical way of thought. Just one question Mr Wilder? did no crime or joblessness or problem exist in the Netherlands before you allowed Muslims in? What was Netherlands before you people opened immigration, Shangri La?

The world is worried about finding OBL, well this is the western version of it. Wonder which part of the “Axis Of Evil” he fits into.

This to me exhibits exactly who should not be elected into government or in power anywhere in this world, we already have enough hate. We do not need people pouring petrol on the fires already threatening to consume us all.
Below are the links to his interview.

YouTube Blocked!!

For the last few hours “youtube” has been blocked in Pakistan. The order to block the website by the PTA is because someone has uploaded an objectionable video by none other than Geert Wilders (the infamous dutch politician) who has gone on another one of his anti Muslim/anti quran rants in it. Perhaps it is an excerpt from his soon to be released movie “Fitna” a documentary against Islam.

Ok so the video is pretty pathetic, but what will we achieve by blocking it? The reason given by the PTA is because this video attacks our religion. Well what about the thousands of websites showing porn in various forms and logged on by many here in Pakistan? If we are such great and pious Muslims why not censor them first? Yeh we can watch porn but not some idiot ranting against Islam, makes perfect sense!

If the government wants to do something constructive then perhaps they can have one of our Aalims make a video countering his arguments and put that up on youtube, fight the enemy with his own weapons instead of just burying our respective heads in the sand i say!!

Or we could launch an online petition against this video and the politician concerned. When our beloved Muhammad {P.B.U.H} first brought his message down from the mountain, he was lambasted as being high and nuts and various other things. Many people tried to insult Islam in front of him and the rest of mecca. Did he look the other way? Did he close his eyes? no he fought tooth and nail, why do not we do the same?(by this i mean fight with words, so put that sword back in)

Just for your information, on polls in yahoo the most searched for word in Pakistan in 2007 was “Paris Hilton” ironic is it not?

UPDATE: well as of now it seems that the video in question has been removed by the youtube and google authorities due to it violating the TOS or terms of service, now only if the PTA would get a hold of this and open youtube up again….

To Go or Not to Go… that is the question

Right now our great leader is pondering what the hell just happened on Feb 18th, yes he was all for free and fair elections but not bloody this!

Right now Chaudery Shujahat has no clue what he has said in his post election speech.

Right now the winners of our elections are plotting to make a government with the least number of deals possible.

Right now the great general just wants to go where Shortcut went and not return. Take that you baldie who dares demand his resignation.

Right now Pervaiz Elahi has been outfoxed by what he believes is destiny while it is really his karma.

Right now the people are wondering what the hell are they going to do with this democracy they have achieved.

Right now the government is thinking of releasing the Ex Chief Justice, really? you think?

Right now the atmosphere in Pakistan is still calm, surprisingly.

Right now Fazlul Rehman has bought two one way tickets to mecca.

Right now we are harping about victory and the peoples revenge while we should be making government and going into reconstruction.

Right now several crises loom for the honeymooners, enough to drive them mad in the first six months.

Right now at least one TV channel has flashed the truth across its screen, it says “Infotainment”

Right now we have crossed another watershed in our nations history, i hope the next puddle is shallower.

Election Report, Further Updated

It is now 10:25 pm on Election day here in Pakistan.

So far the results coming in (tentative) as they are being repeatedly called by all the news channels indicate the following very important facts

1) The religious parties are losing big time, they have lost a lot of credibility due to their alleged links with militants in Pakistan who are responsible for some of the worst violence we have witnessed in our history by Suicide attacks

2) PML Q’s days are finished, they might win a few seats in their strongholds but overall they are coughing in the dust of PML (N) in punjab

3) In Sindh PPP is the vast majority leader, they have been very organized and have milked the sympathy vote to the maximum, the only opposition they have faced is in the areas where MQM is contesting against them.

4) In Urban Karachi and Hyderabad, there is no challenge to MQM, they are winning by a landslide. All the people i have spoken to today, across this city have voted for MQM based on a number of observations. Chief among them being ” When it rained and the roads were flooded who else but Mustufa Kamal was seen standing himself at night supervise drainage” when the storm came and hoardings flew all over the same gent was there working for this city and so on.

I now am quite sure that rigging on whatever scale (if it has even happened) has caused minimum or no damage in these elections. The voter turnout has been more than we expected, more than we thought would occur and the people have spoken loud and clear. Let me remind my readers that several parties and blogs are screaming “Rigging” “Rigging” while totally ignoring the fact that when the ruling party rigs an election it bloody wins!!! It is losing… all over which shows what???

However the best and the most heartning news i have heard all day today is being broadcast on all TV channels right now. That after closing time there were crowds of people hanging around outside polling stations in many areas. when interviewed they spoke with determination to themselves act as observers and to make sure no rigging takes place. It seems we have awakened!! I hope now that we have the grace to accept these results and move on tomorrow.

P.S ( did i toot my horn about CNN calling me to express my opinion on the expected low turnout in the polls today) well here it is….

My View on CNN (its just three lines in the middle of the article..but hey i am not complaining)

Election Report, Updated

It is now 6 Pm in Pakistan, a full hour after election day coming to a close. Till now there have been only some incidents of violence and alleged rigging. Many people have by now come on air and expressed the fact that they were more than satisfied by what they have witnessed, this includes serveral election observers as well.

The most disappointing aspect of today has been the media coverage, which is patchy at best and interrupted by various technical glitches. Such as loss of sound etc. Plus each Tv channel in the interest of ” First to announce results” is broadcasting the results of every polling station from different constituencies. This is really confusing as there are more than 140 polling stations in a constituency and broadcasting one polling stations result gives false indications. I think the Tv channels if they want to act responsibly should collect and compile the results of a constituency before announcing anything.

The atmosphere is still that of calm, albeit a very nervous one at the moment. Will the people predicting large scale rigging, mass panic, chaos please stand up?

Election Report, NA 252, Karachi

After waking up at about 11am(its a holiday after all), i and my family proceeded after breakfast and a customary news glance to our local polling station. Our area is Sharfabad, the Halka NA 252 and the city Karachi.

I was quite pleasantly shocked to witness total calm, the neighborhoods families were all walking to the polling station to cast their votes. The usual air of excitement and tension was missing however and the whole area wore a deserted bare look. The only activity to be seen was in the M.Q.M camp where people were lining up to get their voting booth numbers from polling lists, which were being provided diligently.

My mother and grandmother had also accompanied me and as we walked into the polling station there were election officials present to guide us to our respective polling booths. The staff was very cordial and nice, again a huge surprise for me as i have taken part in many previous elections and always found the election staff to be rude and boisterous. After voting my grandmother was even offered a seat as the rest of my family completed our voting!! Yes it may sound quite ordinary to some international friends of ours, but small courtesies like these are previously unheard off in our electoral process.

We were done with the whole process (all three of us) under 20 minutes. We did not face a single problem and our whole experience was quite satisfactory. True after coming back and having watched the news, i must admit there are certain question marks as some violence has taken place, specially in Punjab and N.W.F.P but as far as my own area and experience is concerned, it was very well planned and executed by the respective authorities.

So well done to whoever is responsible :)

I would like to urge all my fellow Pakistanis, to go out and vote, i do not think there is any reason not to, and there are no hassles or problems either!!! Be Part of the process!!

16.02.08

2 Days left to elections now!!! Where have i been you ask??? well i got the urge to suddenly jettison myself from this digital life and go work on something i have been meaning to for ages. I started a novelette. What is that you would ask? well its a book, but in an abridged form. A normal book is around 70,000 words. A Novelette is around 15000, why write one? why write anything at all i say. Its half done, but thats not what pulled me back again. I am here to announce that there is hope, yes yes i know 2 days left and there shall be chaos to come.

The reason i present for my hope for better things is one  “Divine Justice”

One may not be religious but one cannot disallow this notion now can they? After all there is some moral/higher authority somewhere up there, some cosmic karma which comes full circle for people whom no law can touch in this life. For instance our government, poor sods that they are claiming all over the world how clean and transparent their elections will be, while the Attorney general is confirming massive rigging to come on phones, that too while being recorded. Hah!! i say ” try to put that under house arrest now!!” Thing is in our land people as mentioned umpteen times by me before do not know how to have a private conversation. This is exactly what has happened. While putting a media person on hold, the attorney general is confirming large scale scandal on the other line. This is what divine justice is..and it is far sweeter when on tape.

Have a read and keep a glass of water nearby (for when u choke with laughter)

To My Sweet Valentine

388456312_86c68821db.jpg

Very soon the streets of my city will be lined with red.

No no i speak not of blood people, they shall be lined with glass windows full of red hearts and chocolates and roses &  god knows what else to celebrate that holiday of eternal love. The great and mushy Feb 14th, Valentines day.

Bah!! if we were to believe “Hallmark” anyone who sends valentines on this momentous occasion is to achieve everlasting love, happiness and the fringe physical benefits which abound. What a load of rubbish, almost as rubbish as that tale of St Valentine and his letter to the jailers daughter signed in the end with “Your Valentine”

The real valentines day was a festival of fertility devoted to the Roman God “Lupercus” in whose honor young womens names were placed in a bowl on Feb 15th and the men of Rome (without looking) drew their bed warmers for the entire year. Shocked? Mortified? that the festival of luuurve and red roses and sweet nothings actually represents an orgy of carnal lust?

Well thats what you get for believing in love. Now go out there and buy a bloody heart cause yours only pumps blood once a year on Feb 14th.. go on!

The only way we can make love if there is such a thing everlasting is to take away all this commercialism from it my friends. Tell your loved one how you feel every chance you get, whats the point of waiting for Feb 14th?

Down with V day i say!

Desi Women & What Not To Say To Them

mar4.gifMen are often referred to as “dirty rotten scoundrels” by the general population of desi women everywhere. They are torn apart for lying about the smallest of things, but expected to lie about their mates weight and beauty everyday. They are always blamed for having a one track mind but are castrated the moment, their gaze wanders to anything else but what should be the center of their life their women.

Do not even get me started on the use of words such as “Quality time” This is something newfound and much in vogue in the desi womans dictionary. One is in a hot romantic relationship and has just gotten off the phone after 5 hrs of yapping with her, and what does she do? turns around to her girlfriend and says oh he never spends any quality time with me!!

We my male friends are a much misjudged and misrepresented species. We are forever confused and clueless on how to step through the minefield set before us by the fairer sex. Which i might add, delights in our every mistake, stored away at the back of the brain to be brought out the next time they want something special. Remember honey…how you screwed up our vacation? whatever… Therefore in the spirit of greater understanding i shall attempt to lay out the top 5 things one must NEVER say to a desi woman whilst in a relationship.

5. You look so much like your mother.

Unless her mother is Vaneeza i am dead sure she would not want to hear this. Age is the worst thing to remind a woman off, they are dead scared of age and how it matters and all that, plus none of them dig their mums inside their heads. Hence the use of terms such as “shelf life”(what are you a jar of marmalade?)

4. You know once i was with this girl…

This sentence can lead to multiple ways for a man to die. Ok so they expect us to tell the truth and share all our little dirty secrets. However the minute you do so the shadow of everlasting shadiness and doubt will descend on thy head. she will then give you that look of suspicion every time you say, Bye i am going to work.

3. Come on what is the big deal about a few cramps.

Thats it buddy, game over you have put a dagger in the very core of femininity with that statement. Women are more susceptible to pain and sensitivity. They do not treat pain like we do, and when you make fun of their physical pain? you are just inviting your own.

2. Has that dress shrunk?

No No No… never ever say that. The second worst thing after age is for them to feel that they have become a little how shall we say? plump? say that and your sleeping space will soon shrink to that couch in the living room

1. Do you really need more shoes honey?

Yes she does idiot. She needs more shoes, more bags and more clothes. She needs it all!! why because she is a woman. To hell with what you can or cant afford. Come between a woman and her accessories and you shall see the chainsaws come out.

P.S ( If avoiding none of this works for you, then there is always the wisest thing i have ever heard about women. I.E you find out what they want, and bloody give it to them!)

Pandemic Flu!!!

2-2-2008_15338_l.gif

Is 2008 going to be the worst year in Pakistan’s history?

We had the riots and suicide bombings in Jan and now Feb has brought us the angel of death wearing a new guise, going “cluck” “cluck”

A State of emergency has been declared, by the health authorities as H5N1 has been confirmed to be found in the chicken farms of the Karachi area. Specifically Gaddap and Hub. These poultry farms have been sealed off and the birds are being culled, isolation areas have been established in all hospitals and as per last reports 3 patients have been admitted to the civil hospital with Bird Flu in Karachi. What else is gonna happen? Biblical Flooding?

Info On Avian/Bird Flu and symptoms

Oh and, there is no need to panic. Cuz this is Pakistan, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
