Another day in Crisesistan

The 30 day notice given by the lawyers movement and their affiliates to this countries government is coming to an end tomorrow. Apparently at the end of this period, the entire population of this country will come onto the roads demanding the return of the “mahzool” or “mazoor” judiciary or whatever they are calling them these days.

Slick top has immediately left to his thinking chair in Dubai to mull over the matter. This off course provides all the people at “that table” to fly to “that greener pasture” to debate over the restoration of the judiciary and the murree accord.

So why are there so many hurdles in restoring the judges, why has the lawyers movement seemingly been thwarted and what of the “real” problems our country faces.

I would like to draw my fellow countrymen or women’s attention to the following facts jumping up and down in naked fury in front of us to get some notice.

1) Iftikhar Chaudery (the former chief justice) presided over the appeal of Mr Slick top while he was in jail a grand total of 5 times, but he refused to decide on this cut and dry case as he had “not seen the file” This is the guy who is going to save us all? who will get us justice? do not make me laugh!

2) Nawaz Sharif only wants the judiciary to be restored so that he can maybe get the NRO made “non valid” get a hint people?

3) The nation is suffering from excessive energy shortage, food shortage as well as a literal meltdown of the biggest sector of our economy, namely textiles. However we are only concerned with restoring 7 people who are apparently the answer to all our problems. As soon as Iftikhar gets his chair back Karachi’s 500 MW electric shortage will disappear in thin air due to his “suo motto” action or whatever, same with food he will wave his black robe and the granaries will burst forth with a flood of grain.

4) We are also in the middle of a silent currency crises, in every country of the world the local currency is getting stronger against the US Dollar but ours is falling like it needs a parachute.

I think the government should really seriously get their act together as the future looks even more dismal then it was in the days of dictatorship, yes.. no kidding Geo tv being left alone to do what it wants does not reduce the price of PETROL people ,which by the way is due to be raised by another 4rs on may 1st. Which will mean that it has been raised a grand total of nearly 20% in the last bloody month. Suo motto that!

But… But wait right now Nawaz Sharif is speaking to people at Dubai airport where he has just arrived saying all matters will be decided at 1:30pm tomorrow at Slicktops residence over lunch. Thank God!!! we are safe.. let us go to sleep via candle light right now!!! this ranter is done!

A Unique Protest!

One mans protest against rising fuel costs, i found this on Adnan’s blog and KMB, thought it was striking. The day is not far away in Karachi i am afraid, when all of us will have to get bicycles to go to work. Hey perhaps it shall create new jobs, peddlers instead of drivers?

Bye Bye Bhaji…

So here it is, the decision everyone watching or not watching the IPL is concerned with these days. The slapper Mr Harbhajan Singh stand in captain of the Mumbai Indians has been banned for the rest of the IPL season. This effectively means that his one second of hot headedness has cost him millions and given him a national ego dent the size of the grand canyon.

Since “Bhaji” as he was affectionately referred to seemingly got away with what happened between him and Symonds in Australia, he has now gone from the Sikh Warrior to the hot headed loser. The whole sabre jiggling facade of the new India camp and attitude of them middle class boys is also now taking a pounding in the knee jerk “Indian” Press.

However if Sreesanth thinks he has gotten away Scott free he has no idea what the long run has in store for him. He could have controlled those tears, but his exhibitionist streak made him play “The victim” on camera and if Dhoni’s comments are anything to go by the team bus will not be a welcome place for him in the near future.

As the laser shows fade away in the sunset, what has emerged out of the IPL is two Indian national players who probably hate each others guts at the moment, no matter the public huggings. Plus an Indian dressing room which is not exactly sure of where their loyalties lie.

But wait, oooh new cheer leaders arriving from Russia you say? SRK making a new video about his team the Kolkatta Knightriders? turn on the lights people its crazy time again.

Will someone wake up the Indian board? oh sorry no can do Modi thinks he is Ceaser. Funny thing is in this acropolis half the audience seems to be watching the Indian bollywood stars rather than the match, and people are seemingly losing interest day by day. Even public slappings cannot glue the viewer to the screen as a good old fashioned game of “cricket” can.

Can we stop the gladiator games and play some real cricket now? please?

Bushism’s Of The Week Part 5

“I don’t want to win? If that were the case why the heck am I on the bus 16 hours a day, shaking thousands of hands, giving hundreds of speeches, getting pillared in the press and cartoons and still staying on message to win?”–Newsweek, Feb. 28 edition

“The senator has got to understand if he’s going to have–he can’t have it both ways. He can’t take the high horse and then claim the low road.” –to reporters in Florence, S.C., Feb. 17

“My attitude about the world changed, and I know the attitude about the world from a lot of folks here in America’s attitude changed.”

More trouble in the IPL, Bhaji Slaps Sreesanth!

I know, i was one of the people who supported Bhaji in the Symonds row over in Australia and i would like to be the first one to own up to it. This guy has proven to be a nut case. After the Mumbai Indians captained by Harbhajan Singh lost to Punjab Xi Sreesanth a bowler with the Punjab XI walked up to his Team India Mate Bhaji and said “hard luck” to him, he was met with a slap underneath his eyes. Chaos ensued as Sreesanth started crying in front of all the cameras and Preety Zinta air head as always refused to console him. By what i have seen so far it is good that there are so many Bolly wood stars involved in this tournament as its turning into an Indian Movie.

Punjab XI have lodged a formal complaint against Harbhajan Singh and he has reportedly been suspended and stripped of Captaincy of the Mumbai Indians pending an inquiry. I personally think any individual who treats his fellow sportsmen in such a manner should get a lengthy ban to teach him a lesson. Incidently the Mumbai Indians are the most expensive team of the whole IPL showcase with stars such as Tendulkar in it.

There was lot of hue in cry on Indian channels when Shoaib hit Asif in the Dressing room, it is going to be interesting to see whether they dole out the same treatment to one of their own.

IPL in trouble over cheerleaders!

The DLF Indian Premiere League has been the reason for much talk in the cricketing world as of late, and now its Cheerleaders are being stomped on. Cheerleaders are often found in 20/20 matches around the world, they go into a lil song and dance routine every time a moment like a sixer or a batsmen getting out arrives on the field of play.

Authorities in India tho as well as some politicians are raising hue and cry over the alleged indecency of these cheerleaders, some of them being brought in from as far away as Washington D.C. Ala the Redskins.

Strange that the same politicians and authorities see nothing vulgar about the garish outfits worn by the players, or the amount of money being thrown at them or the bollywood cronies chattering in their cellphones on the sidelines. Or the fact that this league of theirs is destroying cricket, frankly if i wanted to watch star players from all over competing in a biff bam sport, i would tune to the English premiere league. This is simply a mockery of cricket the last of the purist sports.

Hindu factory worker “lynched” in Karachi

I was sent this piece of news by a friend who writes here. This was reported in the news and on some other blogs as well the day it happened but as is the case in these matters it was quickly silenced due to the nature of its content.

Jagdesh Kumar was a Hindu worker, 27 years old who worked in a Leather factory in the Korangi Industrial area of Karachi. On April 8th 2008 he was accused by his fellow workers of uttering “blasphemous” words against the prophet at 10 am and beaten. He was produced before Ms Naushaba the head of the stitching department who did not come to his aid. His actual crime according to this report is different.

Jagdesh made the cardinal error of falling in love with a “muslim” girl in this factory. This is what he was murdered for, and in full view of two police mobiles with 12 policemen who stood by along with two of the factories managers and a director as the mob beat him with iron rods, hammers and went so far as to puncture his eyes with screwdrivers.

This entire incident was filmed by the CCTV cameras in the factory however only three people have been arrested. It seems that both the police of this city and the representatives of minorities Mr Daya Ram are hell bent on sacrificing this young mans life to preserve peace in the area. Members of extreme religious groups are involved in this murder. I demand that these religious groups either stop persecuting members of innocent minorities on the basis of fake charges, or stop raising hue and cry around the world when Islam is maligned to be a religion which is soaked in Blood!

We call our religion one that means “peace” and in the same breath we go around killing people on the behest of them uttering blasphemous things against the Prophet. When such things were said in his lifetime about Muhammad he advised his followers to turn the other cheek, but no our militant groups today demand blood, they wear these incidents like badges of pride. I wonder how they sleep at night?
