Writer, trainer, blogger and entrepreneur. I have been actively involved in the social media community of Pakistan since early 2007. I have written more than 700 blog posts on my site and many articles/blogs for Dawn, The express tribune, Daily times & Friday times on issues pertaining to both socio/economic as well as with our social media here in Pakistan.
In 2010-2011 I helped found Sarelief which is the leader in this region in crowd sourcing for relief with Awab Alvi, Sabahat Ashraf and Ar Rafiq. In 16 different missions which we were personally part of, we distributed over USD 2,56,000 worth of relief by our own hands and with a very dedicated volunteer team, many of which came from the social media community of Pakistan. Some notables include A.R khat, Ali Balagamwalla, Fursid, Ammar haider & many others who helped us untiringly in our cause as a community based relief group. Our relief reached from Shikarpur to Hyderabad and we worked side by side with the government, the military as well as PAF . Thankfully the floods are over, but even now Sarelief is working as a clearing house to connect people with funds and expertise when disaster strikes in south asia.
I was also one part of ” the laid back show” an award winning bi weekly podcast from Pakistan which featured me and Awab Alvi discussing various issues prevalent in our nation as well as tech and the course of social media. Later on this podcast was changed into a broadcast quality stream called “The out of bounds show” which brought forth in its 48 episodes many issues being swept under the carpet in Pakistan, as well as served as the “social media community of pakistan’s” show in bringing forth notable bloggers and commentators by including them in this broadcast from 247 online.
Currently aside from writing and training’s conducted in 2012 by me at the IEARN summit in Islamabad and the KIMEP Tech forum central asia 2 conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan I am also heading the social media section of Mindmap. A consulting company offering cutting edge solutions in social media, digital PR as well as capacity building for organizations in Pakistan. Our clients list includes the World food programme, Pawnay 14 August and currently Un Women as well.
I am also part of Global voices as an author and editor of their “Urdu lingua section” and blog for “Future challenges”. My first book “The sands of time” was published on amazon and I am currently publishing my second one “The novelist” chapter by chapter on my blog in its fiction section.
